About the course
This double degree prepares you to teach Years 7–12 while building expertise in recreation and outdoor environmental studies. You’ll develop skills in lesson planning, assessment and classroom management, and undertake extensive supervised school placements plus outdoor environmental fieldwork. The program offers flexible secondary teaching-area choices and leads to eligibility for teacher registration in Queensland as a bachelor-level education and outdoor studies qualification.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers as secondary school teachers (including Health and Physical Education or Marine Science, plus another teaching area) and in outdoor and environmental education settings. Opportunities may include outdoor leadership roles, environmental interpretation, outdoor recreation officer positions, and guiding work in adventure tourism or ecotourism. This bachelor-level double degree supports pathways across education and the outdoor recreation/environment sector.
