About the course
This dual-qualification pathway prepares you for a specialised role in cardiac diagnostic imaging, with undergraduate entry into echocardiography and cardiac physiology. You will build knowledge and practical skills to perform, analyse and provisionally report cardiac ultrasound scans, working closely with clinical teams. Study is on campus in Brisbane or Sydney and designed for entry into echocardiography-focused practice in healthcare settings. The programme develops advanced clinical reasoning, health leadership, and evidence-based practice for complex care environments.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to practise as an echocardiographer, supporting the diagnostic process by conducting and interpreting cardiac ultrasound examinations and producing provisional reports. Employment opportunities may be available in public and private hospitals and community health services, working alongside cardiology and surgical teams. Demand is strong in many health facilities and can support mobility, with Australian-trained sonographers valued internationally.
