About the course
UQ’s Bachelor of Biomedical Science is a 3-year program exploring the biomedical foundations of modern healthcare and disease treatment. You’ll build knowledge from cell and molecular biology through to anatomy and physiology, and develop research skills from experimental design to computer modelling. The degree emphasises hands-on lab learning, with access to advanced teaching facilities and options to undertake research experiences and a third-year project. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting medical science and healthcare innovation, using strong laboratory and analytical skills. Career directions include biomedical research assistance, laboratory and pathology-related work, clinical trials support, and roles in biotechnology or health research organisations. The program also provides a solid pathway for further study toward research, postgraduate health programs, or specialised biomedical careers within hospitals, institutes and industry as a Bachelor-level biomedical science qualification.
