About the course

This fast-tracked double degree combines a liberal arts program in Western Civilisation with an accredited secondary initial teacher education qualification. You will build deep humanities knowledge and then develop the skills to plan, teach and assess effectively for adolescents, supported by supervised professional experience in schools and community engagement opportunities. Graduates can pursue registration to teach in secondary schools, completing both awards in 4.5 years.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for work as secondary school teachers across government, independent, Catholic and other faith-based schools, with strengths in humanities-related teaching areas linked to their chosen major. The program’s extensive supervised placements and professional studies support classroom readiness, reflective practice and student wellbeing. This Bachelor/Master pathway primarily leads to professional employment in secondary education and related learning and youth-focused settings.
