About the course
This honours year extends prior social science study with advanced training in research methodology, theoretical inquiry and independent scholarship. Students complete substantial thesis work alongside research design and literature review units, building skills for professional research roles or progression to a higher degree by research. The Social Sciences stream supports study aligned to areas such as sociology, criminology, community services, history or Indigenous studies.
Career outcome
Graduates are equipped for advanced research-focused work in academic and professional settings and are well prepared for further research study such as a PhD. Career pathways may include policy and social research roles, community and youth work, local government and outreach positions, communications and media roles, arts and cultural administration, and market or project research and coordination in public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Preparing graduates for graduate employment, professional traineeships, and further postgraduate study.
