About the course
This four-year Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours builds a strong foundation in agricultural science, technology and farm business, and develops skills to assess and improve farming systems. In the final year you complete an embedded honours research project with academic and industry mentors on a real-world issue. Taught through the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, the degree offers majors in Crop Science and Plant Health or Sustainable Agriculture. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers across modern agriculture, including agronomy and advisory roles, horticulture and crop production, biosecurity and plant health, and sustainable farm and land management. The embedded honours research project also prepares you for roles in agricultural research, trials and extension, and for further postgraduate study.
