About the course

This one-year Honours program extends undergraduate accounting study through advanced coursework and a supervised research thesis. It focuses on higher-level analysis in financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and taxation, delivered in a seminar-style learning environment. Students engage closely with research-active staff and develop critical evaluation of advanced accounting issues.

What you might learn

The program aims to deepen students' technical and conceptual understanding across major accounting sub-disciplines while building strong analytical and critical thinking capability. Students develop research skills through undertaking a thesis, including problem formulation, evidence-based analysis, and academic writing. The seminar format also strengthens advanced communication and scholarly discussion skills.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for advanced entry roles and accelerated pathways in accounting and related professional services, supported by strong analytical and research capabilities. Potential careers include roles in auditing, taxation, financial and management accounting, and advisory work across public practice, government, and industry. The Honours research component also provides a foundation for further postgraduate research study.
