About the course
This associate degree prepares you for paralegal work by introducing the Australian legal system and building practical skills in legal research and writing, alongside foundational knowledge across key areas of law. You can undertake voluntary legal experience or a para-professional placement, and optionally major in Conveyancing to meet NSW academic prerequisites for conveyancing. It also provides a pathway to further study towards becoming a lawyer in the legal discipline. The programme introduces legal documentation, office procedures, and foundational legal knowledge for support roles.
Career outcome
Graduates may work as paralegals or para-professionals supporting solicitors and barristers, assisting with legal research, document preparation and case administration. Opportunities can be found in government legal departments, law enforcement, legal aid, courts and prosecution services, as well as community and corporate settings such as finance, banking, insurance and conveyancing. This associate qualification supports entry-level progression within the law sector. Preparing graduates for legal clerk, paralegal support, and compliance assistant roles, or degree articulation.
