What does an Artistic Director do?

Artistic Directors plan, administer and review activities concerned with producing artistic media. The job duties of an art director include manage artistic and media productions to meet quality, cost and timing specifications; formulate and develop organisations' artistic policies and selecting and planning organisations' artistic program or research investigate and compile stories and programs.

Art directors work in various fields of the media and communication industry, including advertising, producing (exclude media), music ensemble etc.

How to become an Artistic Director?

To become an artistic director, you would require a bachelor's degree related to design or arts-related subjects and samples of ad campaigns that you have previously managed. Alternatively, relevant experience of at least 5 years is usually needed. A background in graphic design has been essential for most art director jobs today. Art director would also require to master programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other similar design software.
