This one-year full-time program examines the causes, dynamics and lived experiences of violence and the conditions for building peace. Drawing on multiple disciplines, it explores how different interpretations of conflict shape responses by states, international organisations and civil society. With a strong Asia–Pacific focus and global perspective, the degree prepares graduates to engage with complex contemporary peace and security challenges in professional settings in peace and conflict studies.

Students develop conceptual and practical tools to analyse conflict drivers, peace processes, humanitarian and security challenges, and ethical debates around force and intervention. The program strengthens skills in negotiation and conflict resolution, critical evaluation of policy and evidence, and informed engagement with global politics. Electives allow tailored study across diplomacy, security, humanitarian action and related methods, building advanced capability in peace and conflict studies at Master level.

Graduates may work in government and foreign affairs, international organisations, NGOs and humanitarian agencies, peacebuilding and mediation services, policy and research roles, and advocacy within civil society. The program supports careers involving conflict analysis, program design and evaluation, negotiation, and crisis response across regional and global contexts, particularly linked to the Asia–Pacific. Roles typically align with professional practice in peace and conflict studies at Master level.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a cognate Bachelor degree (or equivalent) with minimum GPA 5/7. Alternative pathways include a cognate Bachelor with GPA 4/7 plus a Graduate Certificate (GPA 4/7), or GPA 4/7 plus 3 years relevant ANZSCO Skill Level 1 work experience; a cognate Graduate Certificate (GPA 4/7) plus 3 years experience; a cognate Graduate Diploma (GPA 4/7); or 10 years relevant experience. English language requirements apply.
