The Master of Forests examines forests as vital ecosystems central to biodiversity, human wellbeing and climate solutions. You’ll explore sustainable forest management across conservation, plantations, farm and urban forests, and the policy and governance contexts that shape decisions. The degree emphasises interdisciplinary problem solving and applied learning to address deforestation, restoration and climate adaptation challenges in Australia and globally in a master’s program focused on environmental science and forestry.

This prepares you for professional practice in forestry and environmental science as a master’s qualification.
Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0. Applicants also need sufficient prior study in a cognate discipline (at least 8 courses) and must meet ANU English language requirements. Admission is competitive, so meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an offer.
