This intermediate-level qualification prepares you for work in the community services sector across community, residential and health care settings. You’ll build practical skills to support people from diverse backgrounds, help plan and deliver group activities, and develop a pathway for further study. Training is delivered by industry-experienced teachers and can be completed in up to 14 months at TAFE Queensland. The programme introduces counselling basics, community support skills, and behavioural science fundamentals.

Graduates may seek roles supporting clients and communities in community service organisations, residential care and related health and social support settings. Typical work involves assisting individuals and groups, contributing to programs and group activities, and working effectively with diverse people and needs. This Certificate IV supports entry into community and welfare support work across a range of service providers in community services. Preparing graduates for community support, welfare assistant, and care coordination roles, or degree articulation.
