You will develop an understanding of contemporary issues in technology governance and how disruptive technologies are regulated in practice. The program builds practical capability to analyse regulatory and policy responses, consider governance and compliance challenges, and work across areas such as cybersecurity, privacy, data protection and digital economic activity. Learning is oriented to applying governance frameworks to real-world institutional and public policy settings.

Graduates may pursue roles involving policy design and analysis, legislative and regulatory affairs, compliance and enforcement, and technology-related governance work. Typical employers include Commonwealth and State digital transformation departments, federal and state policy and better-regulation units, regulatory agencies, and organisations focused on cybersecurity, privacy, data protection and governance. The qualification also supports work in advocacy, civil society and related advisory functions.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet ANU program-specific requirements and English language requirements. Standard entry is a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4/7. Applicants without this may be considered based on either at least 5 years’ relevant work experience in regulatory system design/monitoring/compliance/enforcement, or at least 10 years’ work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1, with supporting evidence required.
