This honours year builds on prior undergraduate study to develop independent research capability in health sciences. You’ll deepen knowledge in a chosen discipline area and engage with current health-related research. The course includes advanced research methods, critical analysis and a supervised research project, culminating in an honours dissertation and presentation. This is a Bachelor honours qualification focused on health sciences research preparation. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.

You’ll learn to apply discipline-specific knowledge to independent research, use appropriate methodologies and critically review literature to design and run a research project. You’ll build skills in project planning and record keeping, ethical research practice, and communicating outcomes through a proposal, dissertation and oral presentation using established and emerging technologies in health sciences.

Graduates are prepared for research-informed roles across health promotion, nutrition, food science, epidemiology, occupational health and safety, and exercise and sports performance settings. The supervised dissertation and advanced methodology training support work in research assistance, program evaluation and evidence-based practice, and provide a pathway to higher degree study. This is a Bachelor honours qualification supporting careers in health sciences research and analysis. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
