The Doctor of Counselling is a professional doctorate designed for experienced practitioners who want to strengthen and extend counselling knowledge through applied research. Delivered over an equivalent of three years full-time, it combines compulsory research training coursework with a substantial supervised research project culminating in an ~80,000-word thesis. The research is intended to bridge theory and practice and contribute to contemporary counselling scholarship at doctoral level.

Graduates are prepared to lead applied research and evidence-informed practice in counselling settings. The qualification supports careers in senior counselling and clinical leadership roles, program and service development, supervision and training, and research roles in community agencies, health and education organisations.
