This degree provides the first step toward becoming a dietitian, combining nutrition science study with a structured pathway that meets prerequisites for Deakin’s Master of Dietetics. You will build knowledge of human nutrition and its role in health and disease prevention, with practical learning in food preparation, analysis and sensory laboratories. The course includes at least 75 hours of industry placement to develop workplace-ready skills in nutrition and health.

Graduates can pursue roles across health and nutrition sectors where strong nutrition science knowledge is valued, including nutrition education, research support, public health and health promotion, and food industry areas such as product development, regulation and nutrition communication. The course also positions eligible students for progression into Deakin’s Master of Dietetics as a pathway toward accredited dietitian careers, building a foundation for bachelor-level work in nutrition and dietetics.
