This two-year full-time Master of Applied Economics provides rigorous training in applied economic analysis, with a strong emphasis on quantitative and econometric methods. It is designed for high-performing students seeking to frame real-world economic and policy issues in a measurable, evidence-based way. The program is delivered in person through the ANU College of Business and Economics and includes advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics.

You will build advanced capability in economic modelling, econometric methods, and quantitative techniques used in modern policy and business analysis. The program develops strong foundations in microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis, optimisation and statistical methods, and then applies these tools to forecasting and case-based applied economic analysis. You also gain experience selecting and completing electives in specialised economics fields.

Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0. Admission is competitive and applicants must also satisfy ANU English language proficiency requirements and any other program-specific academic or non-academic criteria. GPA may be calculated using all grades and/or excluding the final semester (or equivalent), with the higher result used for assessment.
