This two-year full-time advanced masters combines 50% coursework and 50% research in astronomy and astrophysics. Students can tailor coursework across areas such as cosmology, galaxies, stellar astrophysics, planetary science, computing and observational techniques. Many subjects include hands-on or research-led components, including analysing telescope data, building theoretical models, or developing and testing astronomical instrumentation, alongside transferable skills valued beyond academia.

Progression to the major research component requires strong academic performance in early coursework and approval from an identified supervisor.
