The Master of Music (Research) is a graduate research degree focused on developing advanced research capability in contemporary music practice and theory, alongside mastery in a chosen field of practice where relevant. Students complete a substantial original research project under academic supervision in a research environment across a prescribed candidature period. In some disciplines, candidates may submit a folio of compositions or a combined performance folio with a related written project.
