ECU’s Master of Counselling Online is an ACA-accredited qualification designed to build advanced, evidence-based counselling skills for work with individuals, families and communities. Delivered in an accelerated online format, it develops person-centred practice, cultural awareness and the ability to provide counselling across different modalities, including digital delivery. The course includes a supervised professional placement to help you apply theory in real settings in a Master-level counselling discipline.

You will learn to adapt counselling theories and techniques for delivery across digital and other modalities, and to practise in ways that connect with clients in diverse contexts. The course emphasises developing a person-centred approach that values difference and supports strengths-based change. It also focuses on working at the cultural interface, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, and building self-awareness through reflective practice for ongoing professional development.

Graduates may pursue roles as counsellors in community, health, education and related support services, applying counselling skills across face-to-face and online contexts. The qualification can also strengthen practice for professionals working in allied fields such as social work, youth work, disability support, case work, community development and human welfare roles. The supervised placement supports work readiness for Master-level counselling practice in the psychology-related helping professions.
