This apprenticeship qualification prepares apprentices for work in the engineering fabrication trade. You’ll build practical skills through classroom learning and work-based tasks, focusing on designing, machining and welding metal structures. Training covers safe work practices, interpreting drawings, measurements and calculations, thermal cutting, fabrication and finishing methods, and repairing steel and other metal products. It is a Certificate III in engineering fabrication. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Graduates can work across metal engineering, manufacturing and associated industries where fabrication trade work is undertaken. Typical work involves fabricating, assembling, repairing and installing steel and other metal products and structures, including structural components and sheet metal items, using a range of welding and cutting processes. This qualification supports employment as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication in the engineering fabrication trade. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
