The Theatre honours specialisation at the University of Melbourne (VCA) is an immersive, conservatoire-style pathway within the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Degree with Honours). It focuses on rigorous advanced training for actors and creative collaborators in a practice-led environment. Students refine performance craft and collaborative theatre-making through intensive studio-based work. This is an Honours specialisation in Performing Arts. The programme develops design, animation, visual storytelling, and digital media production for creative industries.

Graduates may pursue work across professional theatre and related screen and live performance industries, including acting, ensemble and devised performance, creative collaboration, and independent practice. Skills developed can support roles in rehearsal and production contexts, creative development and performance-making, as well as pathways to further research or specialist training. This Honours specialisation supports careers in Performing Arts. Preparing graduates for graphic design, multimedia production, advertising, and creative studio roles.

Applicants must meet the standard eligibility for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Degree with Honours) in addition to the specialisation requirements. The Theatre specialisation will not be offering a 2027 intake.
