You will build core political science knowledge alongside research and analytical capability. The program develops skills in political theory, Australian and comparative politics, and methods for analysing political behaviour and institutions. Through compulsory introductory and methods courses plus advanced electives, you learn to evaluate evidence, interpret political processes, and communicate well-reasoned arguments relevant to contemporary policy and governance challenges.

Graduates can pursue roles where political insight and evidence-based analysis are valued. Typical pathways include public policy and program roles in government, political advisory work, and positions in think tanks, advocacy organisations, NGOs and international organisations. Entry is based on meeting the published selection rank for the program. The indicative minimum is ATAR 85 (or IB 33). Applicants apply through the relevant admissions pathway (domestic or international) and may be eligible for adjustment factors depending on circumstances.
