I often find myself spending more time doing extracurriculars than studying, be it in Student Societies, volunteering, sports, or the random encounters along the way, which makes the day to day so much more memorable and fun.
Every year, more Singaporeans come over to UWA to study Medicine. Studying Medicine here grants you several opportunities outside of the usual lectures and tutorials, with various societal events, volunteering groups, and upskilling sessions. All in all, definitely a blessing to be studying here!
Choosing to double major in Neuroscience and Data Science was a decision I made early on, as I recognised how important computational thinking has become to modern scientific research. I knew that if I found data science too challenging, I could always change direction or keep it as a minor instead, so it felt like a safe option to try and push myself. Now in my final year, I regularly apply skills from my data science units, particularly coding and statistical analysis, to my neuroscience units and lab placements, using them to work with and interpret real data. I intend to pursue a career in research, so developing these skills has given me a valuable head start.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled each year to identify leading universities in particular subjects. In 2023 we maintained our ranking as #1 in the state, with the highest number of subjects in the global top 100. The Academic Ranking of World Universities also releases subject rankings annually across five key disciplines. UWA consistently achieves strong results in both rankings.
