Charles Sturt University’s Master of Theology builds on prior theological study to develop advanced critical understanding of contemporary theological issues and their application to society and the church. You can pursue coursework or a research-focused pathway, exploring areas such as biblical exegesis, church history, liturgy, public theology and systematic theology. This master’s course strengthens theological methodology and supports progression to higher research in theology.

Graduates may pursue roles in church and faith-based leadership, supporting community engagement and contributing to ministry practice across diverse contexts. The course develops skills to design and implement research projects, critically evaluate Christian ministry history and practice, and analyse approaches to mission and evangelism for contemporary cultural and ecclesial settings. It also provides preparation for further research study at master’s and PhD level in theology. Preparing graduates for advanced professional, specialist, and leadership roles in the discipline.
