The Arts Education Major (Visual Arts) (BEd Secondary) develops the content knowledge and teaching skills needed to teach Visual Arts in secondary school. It focuses on pedagogy for Years 7–12, including preparation to teach the Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts subject area. Students also choose a second teaching area through either a minor teaching area or broader study within The Arts curriculum as part of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary Education). The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.

Graduates are prepared to work as secondary school teachers with a Visual Arts specialisation, teaching across The Arts curriculum in Years 7–12 and Visual Arts in senior secondary years. The major supports careers in schools and education settings that value creative arts expertise, curriculum planning and classroom practice. It is completed within a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Education) pathway focused on professional preparation for teaching in Education & Teaching. Preparing graduates for teaching, education support, and learning development roles in schools and colleges.
