关于课程
The Bachelor of Music (Honours) is an intensive, highly specialised one-year program designed to consolidate and extend undergraduate learning in music, preparing graduates for entry into the music profession and providing a pathway to further graduate study and research. In the Jazz and Improvisation specialisation, students undertake a practice-based major creative project spanning diverse modes of jazz and improvisation performance. The program culminates in a substantial project outcome (such as a live performance, CD and/or folio of new creative work) accompanied by a dissertation.
你可能学到什么
Students develop advanced capabilities in jazz and improvisation through a sustained, practice-led creative project supported by critical reflection and research. The specialisation aims to strengthen high-level performance and creative development skills while building the capacity to articulate artistic intent and process in written form through a dissertation. It also aims to prepare students for professional practice and progression into graduate coursework or research in music.
职业成果
Graduates may pursue professional work as jazz/improvising performers, bandleaders, recording artists and composer-improvisers across live performance and studio contexts. The research and dissertation component supports pathways into further graduate study, including coursework and higher degree research in music. Skills developed can also support related careers in creative production and project-based music practice, including developing original performance projects and recorded releases.
Entry requirements
The Jazz and Improvisation specialisation is for students who have completed an undergraduate music course at the University of Melbourne or equivalent studies at another institution.
