This associate degree prepares you to teach, lead and help preserve First Nations languages and cultures through education. Developed with First Nations Elders, educators and communities, it focuses on culturally responsive, inclusive pedagogy grounded in Aboriginal theoretical frameworks and ways of knowing. You’ll learn through place-based approaches such as storytelling and community-led practice, with experience designing and delivering language and culture programs aligned to Australian Curriculum frameworks.

Graduates are prepared for roles supporting First Nations language and culture education across community and formal learning settings. Career pathways include cultural educator, First Nations language teacher, community program leader and education advocate. Opportunities can be found in schools, government agencies, cultural organisations and not-for-profits, contributing to revitalising languages, leading cultural programs and strengthening inclusive learning environments through culturally responsive practice at associate degree level in education and teaching.
