关于课程
This two-year program places students at the cutting edge of theoretical physics through an interactive, research-led learning environment delivered by leading experts from the ANU Research School of Physics. You explore fundamental frameworks such as quantum field theory and general relativity, and investigate how advanced mathematical and computational methods are used to tackle complex physical systems, from particle interactions to cosmology.
你可能学到什么
You will build a strong foundation in core theoretical physics and develop advanced analytical, mathematical and problem-solving capability. Study focuses on quantum field theory, general relativity, nonlinear dynamics and applied mathematical methods, alongside specialist topics. The program also strengthens research readiness and professional skills through science-and-society coursework and electives, preparing you to interpret, model and communicate complex physical phenomena.
职业成果
Graduates are prepared for further research training and roles where advanced quantitative modelling is valued. Typical pathways include PhD study, research positions in universities and laboratories, and analytical roles in science and technology industries. Skills in mathematical modelling, computational and theoretical reasoning can also support careers in education, scientific consulting, data-intensive sectors, and organisations working on complex systems and high-level problem solving.
Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0. They must have completed at least 8 courses in a cognate discipline with a cognate GPA of 5.0/7.0 (best 8 courses considered if more completed). Cognate disciplines include Physics, Engineering and Mathematics. Applicants must also meet ANU English language requirements and selection is competitive.
