Graduates are prepared for careers analysing and engaging with international affairs across government, diplomacy, and policy settings. Typical pathways include roles in foreign affairs and defence-related agencies, international organisations, NGOs and humanitarian agencies, think tanks, research and advisory roles, and policy or strategy positions in the private sector. The degree also supports further research-focused study or specialist work in regional and global security issues.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet ANU program requirements and English language requirements. Entry is competitive. Pathways include: a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) with GPA 5/7; or Bachelor with GPA 4/7 plus either 3 years relevant professional experience, or a Graduate Certificate (GPA 4/7). Other options include a Graduate Diploma (GPA 4/7), prior postgraduate study (48 units with GPA 4/7), GRE (minimum 155 verbal, 155 quantitative, 4.0 writing) plus experience, or substantial relevant experience.
