This Master of Information Science (Extended) develops specialist skills for professional practice across libraries, archives and records management. You’ll learn how to collect, organise, curate, preserve and provide access to information ethically and effectively, including digital collections and metadata. The course includes two practicums and an option for a substantial research project or a workplace internship to build experience and networks in information management at master’s level.

You’ll develop knowledge of information, library, archival and records-management theory and practice, and learn to solve complex professional problems creatively. The course builds capability to access, adapt and create information and technologies for diverse stakeholders, apply ethical and culturally capable practices, and work with autonomy and collaboration. Learning also emphasises respect for diverse cultures and knowledge systems, including Indigenous perspectives, in professional or research contexts.
