This two-year master provides advanced economic analysis applied to environmental and natural resource policy challenges. You study how markets, incentives and regulation shape decisions in areas such as environment, agriculture, energy and development, with strong quantitative and econometric training. The program integrates economic tools into decision-making at local, national and international scales for applied work in economics. The programme builds executive-level capability in strategy, finance, operations, and organisational leadership for global business environments.

Students develop advanced capabilities in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics and learn to apply these tools to environmental and resource management issues. You build skills in quantitative policy analysis, evaluation and cost–benefit reasoning, and gain specialist knowledge in areas such as environmental, agricultural/resource and energy economics. The degree aims to prepare graduates to design, assess and communicate evidence-based economics for public policy.

Graduates can pursue roles analysing and advising on environmental, resource and energy policy across government, international organisations and consulting. Typical paths include policy analyst, economist, environmental/resource economist, programme evaluation specialist, and roles in development and sustainability policy. The quantitative and econometric focus also supports careers in research agencies and think tanks where evidence-based economic modelling informs decisions in economics.
Entry requirements
Admission requires a recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least GPA 5/7. Entry may also be possible with GPA 4/7 plus either 3 years relevant ANZSCO Skill Level 1 work experience, or a graduate certificate/diploma (or 48 postgraduate units) with GPA 4/7. Applicants may qualify via GRE (min 150 verbal, 160 quantitative, 3.5 writing) plus 3 years relevant experience, or 10 years relevant experience.
