This 1.5-year full-time Master of Applied Cybernetics (Advanced) develops capability to manage complex cybernetic and cyber-physical systems in real-world contexts. Career directions may include cybernetics or systems engineer, cyber-physical systems specialist, technology policy or regulation adviser, human-centred systems designer, applied researcher, and project or program lead for complex technology initiatives, especially where safety, ethics and societal impact are central.

Entry requirements

Applicants must first enrol in the Master of Applied Cybernetics and, after successfully completing the first semester, apply to transfer into the Advanced program. Admission requires completion of 24 units in the ANU Master of Applied Cybernetics, submission of a 3-page research plan with a semester timeline, and written confirmation of supervision from a proposed supervisor. Applicants also submit a portfolio and undertake an interview process.
