关于课程
This graduate certificate provides a pathway into professional archaeology and heritage management and can also prepare students for further postgraduate study and research in the archaeological sciences. It combines practical fieldwork methodologies, professional report writing and cultural heritage assessment with applied learning focused on First Nations engagement and collaboration. The program is designed both for new entrants to the sector and for professionals seeking to strengthen and refine industry-relevant archaeological skills.
你可能学到什么
Students develop applied competence in the ethical, legal and WHS frameworks that govern professional archaeology in Australia, alongside the skills needed for culturally informed heritage practice. The program builds capability in engaging and collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to inform assessment and management processes. Graduates learn to produce professional-standard heritage management and archaeological assessment reports and to apply key analytical practices such as mapping, artefact/feature analysis and post-survey laboratory approaches.
职业成果
Graduates are prepared for roles in the commercial archaeology sector, where fieldwork, assessment and reporting skills are central to consultancy and compliance work. The qualification also supports employment pathways in heritage management across parks and wildlife agencies and broader “parks and country” management contexts. It can also lead to opportunities in public service roles related to cultural heritage management and provide a stepping-stone to further postgraduate study in archaeology.
Entry requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4/7. Alternatively candidates may qualify for entry if they can demonstrate five or more years of relevant professional experience (for example in professional archaeology, heritage management, parks and wildlife or public service employment related to the management of cultural heritage). All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.
