This course introduces advanced human nutrition, building evidence-based understanding of nutrient requirements across the lifespan, including macro- and micronutrients. You explore nutrition through scientific, social and cultural perspectives and draw on related disciplines such as food science, biochemistry, physiology, epidemiology and public health. Designed for health professionals and career changers, it can also provide a pathway into Deakin’s Master of Human Nutrition at graduate certificate level in nutrition and dietetics.

Graduates gain foundational postgraduate knowledge to support roles where nutrition information and advice is needed across health and wellbeing settings. The course can strengthen practice for existing health professionals and help others move into nutrition-related work in community health, health promotion, education, policy or industry. It may support eligibility to apply for Associate Nutritionist registration with the Nutrition Society of Australia, supporting longer-term progression in human nutrition. Outcomes suit a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition & Dietetics.
