Develop specialist skills in applying statistical methods to health and medical data for research and evidence-based practice. This Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics builds capability in data collection, analysis, interpretation and critical appraisal of research findings, with a course plan tailored to your background. Delivered externally and part-time, it draws on core courses from UQ’s Master of Biostatistics and links to public health agencies. The programme develops advanced clinical reasoning, health leadership, and evidence-based practice for complex care environments.

Graduates can support and deliver statistical analysis for health and biomedical research, public health evaluation and evidence-based decision-making. Typical pathways include biostatistics or data analyst roles within hospitals, research institutes, universities, government health departments, clinical trials units and NGOs. The program also provides a pathway toward further postgraduate study in biostatistics and related health data disciplines.
