This honours year develops advanced research skills in the social sciences, focusing on investigating contemporary social issues and human interactions in relation to environments. You’ll undertake an independent research project with academic supervision, deepen disciplinary knowledge, and strengthen critical analysis and communication. The program is designed as a specialised undergraduate honours qualification in social science at RMIT. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.

Graduates are prepared for research- and analysis-focused roles across government, NGOs, community and social policy organisations, and consulting. Typical pathways include social researcher, policy or program advisor, and roles supporting evaluation and evidence-based planning.
