UQ’s Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) is a one-year program for nursing graduates who want to deepen discipline knowledge and build research capability. You’ll develop skills in research methodology, critical inquiry and thesis development, working closely with experienced academics in small, supportive settings. A part-time option supports working professionals. This is an honours qualification in Nursing. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.

Graduates can pursue roles that combine advanced nursing knowledge with research and leadership capability. Potential pathways include clinical leadership positions, research assistant or early-career researcher roles, and nursing education or training roles. Opportunities span public and private health services, specialist areas such as maternity/neonatal care, rural and remote health services, research institutes and aid organisations.
