This Journalism major within Curtin’s Bachelor of Arts develops your ability to research, investigate and craft stories for radio, television and online platforms. You’ll build practical reporting and production skills using industry-standard facilities and publishing channels such as Curtin FM and the Western Independent student news site. The major can be combined with another major or electives to tailor your BA study in media and communication. The programme develops media literacy, content creation, and professional communication skills for digital and corporate environments.

Graduates are prepared for newsroom and communications roles across mainstream and independent media. You can pursue work producing and reporting stories for online, video and radio, and apply journalism skills in organisational communications and public relations. Typical roles include journalist, media presenter, communications officer, public relations consultant, media relations consultant and digital media officer, with opportunities across media, business and government sectors.
