Human Genomics explores how variation in the human genome influences health and disease, building foundations in genetics and genomics relevant to modern biomedical research. You’ll study how genomic information is generated and interpreted and how it can support advances in healthcare and related professions. This is an undergraduate major designed to align with science and health pathways at UWA. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.

Graduates can pursue roles where genomic knowledge supports research and health-related work, such as biomedical or laboratory research assistant positions, genomics support roles, and pathway roles towards genomic data analysis with further study. The major also provides a strong base for postgraduate options (including research higher degrees) and careers across biomedical science, diagnostics, and health services in the biomedical & biotechnology discipline. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
