The Bachelor of Commerce provides a broad foundation in core commerce disciplines while developing quantitative and analytical capability through a compulsory quantitative requirement. Students then build depth through majors and electives, and complement their studies with breadth subjects from across the University. Honours is available as an additional year of specialised study in disciplines including Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Economics or Finance.

Students learn to understand and solve key business challenges by developing strong capability in business analysis, problem-solving and decision-making. The course aims to build a solid grounding in commerce fundamentals while allowing students to tailor their degree through majors, electives and (from 2026) specialisations within majors. It also prepares students to be workforce-ready through industry-aligned learning and access to career development services and networks.

Graduates can pursue careers across accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing and actuarial-related roles, with pathways supported by relevant accreditations in some areas. The degree prepares students for roles in consulting, corporate and public sector organisations, financial services, technology firms and startups. It can also provide a pathway to further study and professional graduate programs such as law, engineering or advanced business and economics specialisation.
