This major explores how animation, visual effects and virtual production are used to create stories and experiences across film, TV, games, advertising and immersive media. You’ll build specialised, hands-on capability with industry-standard tools alongside the creative theories and principles that underpin digital production. This undergraduate major is offered within Curtin’s Bachelor of Digital Creative Industries in design and visual art. The programme develops design, animation, visual storytelling, and digital media production for creative industries.

Graduates develop creative and technical expertise for roles across animation, VFX and real-time production in established and emerging digital sectors. Career paths can include 2D/3D/real-time animator, compositor, 3D motion graphics artist, 3D level designer, real-time cinematic artist, virtual production artist or visual effects artist. Industries include film and TV, gaming, advertising and marketing, media and communications, digital design, and education and training within design and visual art.
