This interdisciplinary honours degree prepares students for leadership in the information and communications technology sector. Across four years you build advanced computing capability and professional skills, and in the final year integrate your learning through a substantial real‑world experience such as an internship, an industry client group project, or a research project. The program is accredited by the Australian Computer Society.

You develop strong foundations in programming, software engineering, algorithms, databases, systems and networks, and mathematical models for computing. The degree emphasises advanced techniques, transdisciplinary problem-solving and the ability to tackle challenging projects. Students also strengthen communication, teamwork and project delivery skills, and can focus their studies through a specialisation aligned to emerging computing fields.

Graduates are prepared for advanced roles across software and technology industries, including software engineer, systems or network specialist, data/algorithm developer, machine learning or AI practitioner, and computing researcher. The honours component and capstone options support pathways into R&D, innovation teams, and client-facing delivery work, while the internship or project experience builds industry readiness for diverse ICT careers.
Entry requirements
Entry is based on an ATAR of 85 (or equivalent). An International Baccalaureate score of 33 is listed as an alternative entry standard. Applicants may also need to meet any program prerequisites and may be eligible for adjustment factors depending on background and pathway. Selection is competitive and additional admission guidance is provided through ANU application advice.
