| | With that being said, the decisions of school resuming in stages, revival of interstate travel and relaxed SOP have proved that we are slowly walking towards the phase of ‘living with Covid-19’. Nevertheless, with the current situation faced, it seems like we are still walking on a tightrope of uncertainty. Therefore, for our own safety, as well as the ones around us, it is our responsibility to think ethically and act accordingly.

| | | | | TERTIARY EDUCATION can be seen as the aspiration for most secondary school leavers and a basic requirement for employment in this day and age. Nevertheless, the extravagant cost for education is not something that everyone can fork out. Here is a short and sweet guide to different financial aids that offer funding for your tertiary studies. 1. UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP Merit scholarships are one of the common scholarships offered by private institutions which is solely based on the academic achievements by the applicant. The scholarship amount is usually allocated for the first year and reassessed again as the student progress to next semester. On another note, there are also scholarships which takes in consideration both academic and extracurricular activities of the student. Usually, this process involves an interview and the scholarship may range from 50% to 100% tuition fee waiver. 2. GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Government or Government-Link Organizations such as JPA, Bank Negara and Khazanah provides scholarship to Malaysian students who achieves outstanding results in their studies. Each organisation has their own criteria in the respect of university and course options. In most times, it is based on the QS World Universities Ranking or Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). 3. EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP Sponsored by private company or corporations, they usually offer scholarships for Undergraduate studies while some may include Postgraduate studies as well. These scholarships tend to include employment bond for a few years and is limited to selected courses or universities. Locally, The STAR Education Fund, YTL and Petronas among others are the usual companies who sponsors students year to year. Alternatively, overseas scholarships specific to certain destination, such as MAAC (Australia) and Chevening (United Kingdom) are also options which students can consider

The amount of PTPTN loan that can be borrowed is determined by the total household income and the course chosen. The main draw of PTPTN is that it charges a 1% flat interest rate. However, it is only limited to local institutions whose courses are MQA accredited.
