This Doctor of Philosophy (Applied Geology) is a higher degree by research where you develop and complete an original thesis under academic supervision. You will investigate geological problems by generating new knowledge or reinterpreting existing data to create practical, real-world solutions. Most of the program is research, supported by access to specialist facilities, resources and opportunities to present at conferences in applied geology and related environmental geoscience.

Graduates may pursue research and advanced technical careers in applied geology across mining and exploration, environmental and hydrogeological consulting, geotechnical assessment, government geological surveys, and academia. The degree builds capability to design and deliver independent, original research and to communicate findings to specialist and broader audiences.
