关于课程
The Master of Statistics develops advanced capability to interpret and model data across many disciplines, including science, business, health and technology. The program combines rigorous training in statistical theory and application with opportunities to tailor electives to your interests. Graduates are prepared for professional statistical practice in diverse industries and research settings, with skills transferable internationally.
你可能学到什么
You will build strong foundations in modern statistical inference and modelling, including regression, Bayesian methods, stochastic processes, generalised linear models and statistical learning. Through electives, you can deepen expertise in areas such as big data, time series, experimental design, survival analysis or related computing and quantitative subjects. The degree emphasises applying appropriate methods and communicating findings from complex datasets.
职业成果
Graduates can pursue roles where advanced data analysis is central, such as statistician, data analyst, quantitative researcher, biostatistician, risk or actuarial analytics professional, and data science-oriented positions. Career pathways span government, consulting, finance and insurance, health and epidemiology, technology, and research organisations. The training supports work involving experimental design, modelling, forecasting and evidence-based decision-making.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0, including at least one mathematics course covering calculus and linear algebra; or an ANU Graduate Certificate of Actuarial Statistics with a GPA of 4.5 and prior university maths covering calculus and linear algebra. Prior calculus and linear algebra knowledge is assumed and not re-taught; contact the program if unsure.
