The Master of Social Policy examines key developments in social policy through a global lens, with a strong emphasis on social justice and influencing policy for real change. It explores how governments and not-for-profit service agencies respond to needs in areas such as employment, income support, education, health and climate change. Students develop the ability to critique social policy debates and consider ethically sustainable solutions while balancing social and economic factors.

Students learn to analyse and critique contemporary social policy issues and the contested processes that shape them, including governance, inclusion and exclusion, and globalisation. The course builds capability to understand the respective roles of government, private and not-for-profit sectors in meeting citizens’ needs.
