关于课程
This advanced master’s provides interdisciplinary, region-focused study of the Middle East and Central Asia at ANU. You explore the region through politics, international relations, modern history, political economy, development, sociology, and religious and cultural studies. The program offers intensive options and some online study, and culminates in a substantial supervised research thesis that develops specialist expertise in a chosen topic.
你可能学到什么
You will build deep knowledge of Middle Eastern and Central Asian societies and contemporary issues, drawing on multiple disciplinary perspectives. The program develops research design and methodological skills through dedicated research training, and supports advanced inquiry via a supervised thesis. Students can also strengthen language capability (e.g., Arabic, Persian, Turkish) and apply learning to complex regional debates in policy and academic contexts.
职业成果
Graduates are prepared for roles requiring strong regional expertise and research capability. Typical pathways include government and diplomacy, international organisations, security and strategic analysis, development and humanitarian work, journalism and media analysis, think tanks, and NGOs. The advanced research component also provides a foundation for further study and research-oriented careers, including progression toward doctoral research in related fields.
Entry requirements
Applicants normally require a relevant bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline. Students undertaking the thesis component must have written agreement from an identified supervisor to enrol in the thesis course, typically secured well in advance of the intended start semester; without this agreement, students may be transferred to the non-advanced program. Mode is primarily in-person, with some online study limits for student visa holders.
