This Master by coursework is a research-led program focused on responding to environmental change and the climate emergency. You’ll undertake research methods and optional units alongside two core dissertation units, developing an advanced, problem-focused and work-related learning pathway aligned to your interests. Study is supported by Curtin partnerships and facilities such as the Legacy Living Laboratory (L3) and CUSP, with options to exit at graduate certificate or diploma level.

Develop sustainability-focused capabilities to address environment and climate priorities. You’ll strengthen critical and analytical thinking, source and evaluate evidence, and communicate findings to varied audiences using research technologies. The course also builds adaptive learning, teamwork and leadership, and an understanding of global-local sustainability issues, culture and Indigenous perspectives relevant to sustainability practice.

Graduates are prepared for roles supporting climate-resilient and sustainable planning, policy and practice across government, industry and the community. Career pathways commonly align with urban and environmental planning, regional development, conservation and land use, resources and energy, transport, construction and engineering-related sustainability work, as well as education and research. This Master by coursework builds specialist capability for environmental and climate emergency work across sectors.
