The Diploma of First Nations Language Work is grounded in First Nations language practices, perspectives and knowledges, focusing on Australian First Nations language contexts. It builds skills in linguistics, language teaching and community language work for revitalisation, maintenance and learning. Study is available on campus or online, with flexible options for First Nations students including workshop blocks in Darwin. This is a Diploma in languages and linguistics. The programme emphasises applied skills, workplace readiness, and technical competency for industry entry.

Graduates are prepared for roles supporting First Nations languages across community and education settings. Opportunities may include work in language centres and schools, language teaching and education support, community language planning and policy, and language documentation and resource development. Pathways may also extend into translating/interpreting, journalism and broadcasting, or further study in linguistics and language teaching. This is a Diploma pathway into language-focused work.
